For many many years the village of Deddington was cricketless. The old ground at the Castle was besieged ( and conquered ) by moles, rabbits and dog walkers, leaving cricketers in the parish to ply their trade in surrounding villages.

This finaly changed in the mid 80`s when John Stiff, Peter Blackburn, Bill Drake, John Burden and supporters re kindled the embers of DCC and organised a fixture list, using the playing field at the old Windmill School.

With no money, no wicket to speak of and no roller the task was an onerous one.

Perhaps not surprising that although games were successfully completed, one mid week game was abandoned after 3 balls due to the " unplayable nature " of the wicket.

The club however went from strength to strength and soon had sides playing on Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays as well as Junior teams.

One of the above " founders"  is still a playing member 20 years later and still breaking records, with his best bowling figures for DCC in 2009.
